Adding hyperlink icons to r_sidebar.php or l_sidebar.php?

I would like to add icons with hyperlinks to my right sidebar. For example, an icon for twitter linked to my account that opens up in a new window. The icon is a fixed 60 x 60 in a standard directory. Your assistance is appreciated!
